Does the name Dean Snell sound familiar? It should! I mean...he did invent the Titleist Pro V1. And quite a few others...
Dean Snell worked at Taylormade for 18 years where he helped create the TP Red & Black, Penta (golf’s first five layer ball), Lethal and the TOUR Preferred line which are played today by PGA Tour pros Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, and Justin Rose among others. He also led the design of the Noodle, Burner, RocketBallz and Project (a), golf balls designed to perform for average players.
Before his time at TaylorMade, Snell spent seven years with Titleist and FootJoy where he co-designed several golf balls including the original Titleist ProV1, Professional, Tour Prestige, HP2 Tour and HP2 Distance. Dean Snell also worked closely with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Davis Love III to bring the cast urethane technology into the golf market with the Titleist Professional ball as a co-inventor of the original ProV1 and Professional golf balls.
Snell Golf currently has three golf ball models available: MTB Black, MTB-X and Get Sum. If you are wondering what "MTB" stands for, it's pretty simple. My Tour Ball. Snell Golf's mission statement boasts their goal of bringing tour caliber equipment to the amateur golfer at an affordable price. This seems to be true as their MTB series is approximately $15 LESS than premium brands like Titleist and Callaway!
Recently, My Golf Spy rated the Snell MTB-X as their pick for #1 ball in distance and overall value.
